Balanced Hackmons
« on: November 02, 2013, 11:06:42 am »
Balanced Hackmons, usually referred to as BH is a very interesting tier where any ability or move is allowed on any Pokemon. Naturally, as suggested by the word 'balanced in the title, there are a small handful of bans placed on the Pokemon, moves, and abilities in the tier, these being Huge Power, Pure Power, Wonder Guard, Arena Trap, Shadow Tag, and OHKO moves. With these bans in place to differentiate the tier from regular Hackmons, Balanced Hackmons is a very diverse and rapidly changing metagame with creativity is at its finest. Despite the almost infinite possibilities allowed in the tier, the metagame is very stable overall, with some sets and Pokemon valued more highly than others.

Pro Tips:

- Always carry a Magic Bounce Pokemon.
- Always have a Rapid Spin / Defog user.
- Because of the point above, you should pack a spinblocker too, if you can.
- Aromatherapy is good especially on Magic Bounce Pokemon, use it.
- Imposter Chansey is extremely threatening, you must be able to counter your own pokemon, this can    be done by taking advantage of differences your own pokemon has with the imposter, such as status, and even items like Judgment w/ plates. .
- Always be able to counter your own Pokemon
- If you are having sweeper problems I feel bad for you son, Unaware has 99 problems but Contrary ain't one
- Using recovery on every Pokemon you can afford to is generally a good idea.
- Carrying a Poison Heal or Magic Guard Pokemon with a status orb helps tremendously against Spore/Dark Void based stratagies
- Arceus can be disguiseed as any form the player chooses, but is only really a different type if it has Multitype+Plate
- Perish Song is extremely helpful. It can force out nearly any Pokemon and is certain death for ingrained or last Pokemon
- Mail is useful on certain Pokemon because it can't be tricked away.
-Your team should have at least one Shedinja check, whether in the form of weather (Although Shedinja can be immune to weather with Safety Goggles), rocky helmet, or entry hazards. Remember that Shedinja can abuse U-turn, Baton Pass, and Volt Switch.
- Always be prepared for Poison Heal Regigigas, it's advisable to use a Magic Bouncer/Orb user that is resistant to Facade with Entrainment (if using Magic Bounce)/Worry Seed/Simple Beam/Gastro Acid to stop it from sweeping your team.

A lot of this was directly quoted from the official BH guide that my friends and I made.

Have you thought of tricking Assault Vest on to support mons ?

A guy did it to me on OU today with switcheroo lopunny today. Seems like with all the stall and support moves in BH, it could be useful, though kinda counter productive.

I've been speculating about Assault Vest trick, it looks very potent with Klutz Deo-S or something, if it receives more usage, Mail might receive a comeback, and if that happens, there's always Magic Room to try I guess.

Assaut Vest trick sounds interesting but having to run klutz on a pokemon just to be able to trick an item is very bad, although i suppose you can always try skill swapping klutz into something else after crippling a poke with assault vest for optimal results but after you did cripple something with assault vest your pokemon turns into a dead weight (save for a few rare occasions involving klutz skill swap).

I have one thing to say:
Prankster Topsy-Turvey.

Why? It is priority and can make a +6 attack/Speed ddancer become completely useless with -6

Yea, this is used a lot already, also never use Dragon Dance, but Shift Gear, anyway commenting on this, Prankster Taunt Setup Sweepers could be interesting, not that I'd know, but it was just a random idea I had

Taunt setup sweepers was a common sight in gen 5 BH, it was mainly used to defeat Unaware's. Prankster Landorus-T would occasionally use Taunt on its sweeping set, but it wasn't very effective. I wouldn't recommend using Prankster on a sweeper all in all mainly because of Nature Power's newfound uselessness.

yeah Nature power turning into tri attack just sucked a lot, prankster topsy turvy is basically the new unaware, except it works on mold breaker pokes now (Yay!) i suppose it's gonna be everywhere, same with safety goggles sturdyshed (was that thing banned already?).

Nature Power being Tri-Attack isn't really that bad, except for Prankster Groudon :L
It does give a sweeping possibiletty for others, even through in Hackmons there is Boomburst.

I think Refridgerate Kyurem-B and Kyurem-W will be used a lot with Boomburst and Return.
